Tracy and I want to express our thanks to all of you for your continued prayer and support towards our ministry.
Our time is winding up here, and in July we are coming home to Minnesota for 6 months of furlough. We are very excited and eagerly look forward to seeing many of you in person!
As some of you might recall Kenya faced a very bad drought just 3 years ago in 2006. Then last year the nation faced the terrible events of the post-election violence. Churches and homes were burnt to the ground, over 1,000 people were killed, and several hundred thousand, fleeing the violence, became refugees within their own country. Unfortunately, to add to these difficult situations, 2009 arrived with another set of hardships. On top of the impacts of the global economic crisis Kenya has suffered from another serious drought this year. The poor harvests of 2008 (due to the political upheaval) combined with this years drought bringing devastation to many communities. At one point the government estimated that more than 25% of the nation (10 million people) faced severe hunger. Many people died along with thousands of livestock before relief supplies could be delivered…
